Fresh and full of sweet berries, this Berry Spritzer is a pretty and refreshing beverage that's perfect for Summer! Plus, directions to turn it into a boozy drink!

Berry Spritzer

If you love berries, especially big, sweet, ripe summer berries, then this Berry Spritzer is the perfect drink for you.

It's cold, bubbly, and fruity and made with REAL berries. It's super simple to throw together, but it's absolutely gorgeous. So it's the perfect drink for company.

Plus, this drink looks patriotic with its red and blue berries, so it's fun to serve all summer long for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day for kids AND adults (adult-only directions are below!).

What Berries Should I Use?

I prefer to use strawberries and blueberries, but you can also add raspberries or blackberries if you like those better.

Can I Make this Berry Spritzer with Alcohol?

Yes, it's super easy to turn into an actual co*cktail too! And a very pretty and tasty one at that.

Just add 1 cup of vodka, and substitute the soda for 3 cups of sparkling wine. Then follow the rest of the recipe as written.

Fresh or Frozen Berries?

Either work fine. But if you use fresh, you'll actually want to freeze them first, so that they're like ice cubes in the drink. So frozen may be preferred here so that you can skip the extra step.

Can Berry Spritzers Be Made Ahead of Time?

I don't recommend it, as the soda or sparkling wine will lose its carbonation.

FAQs

What are the ingredients of a spritzer? ›

There's not a ton to say about this classic and easy summer recipe. There are only 2 main ingredients in a White Wine Spritzer... white wine and sparkling water. I like to load mine up with plenty of lemon and mint to make it feel a tiny bit fancy but that's it!

What is a spritzer made of? ›

A spritzer (German: [ˈʃpʁɪt͡sɐ]) is a tall, chilled drink, usually made with white wine and carbonated water or sparkling mineral water. Fermented simple syrup can be used instead of white wine to keep it sweet but flavor neutral.

Is a spritzer soda or lemonade? ›

When most people make wine spritzers, they use regular soda or sparkling water. However, if you're making a wine spritzer with a drier wine, you might consider using tonic water or lemonade. These sodas add a bit more flavour and sweetness to the spritzer.

Is a spritzer less alcohol? ›

Wine spritzers are a great option if you're looking for co*cktail recipes with less alcohol. Compared to a large glass of white or rosé wine, a white wine spritzer made with seltzer is far lighter on the booze. If you're looking for a low-alcohol wine, a spritzer may be just the ticket.

What's the difference between a spritzer and a spritzer? ›

Difference Between a Spritz and a Spritzer

A Spritz is a drink with at least three ingredients, one of which is an apéritif. They can be served over ice or at room temperature. A spritzer is specifically wine with soda water. It's usually served in a cold, tall glass.

What is the difference between a hard seltzer and a spritzer? ›

Wine Spritzers, as you can tell from the name, only get their alcohol from wine. Your average hard seltzer will use fruit- or liquor-based alcohol or malt to spike the drink. While both offer a bubbly experience, the main difference is the source of alcohol.

What is the purpose of a spritzer? ›

The soda water and ice lighten up the booze, which also means wine spritzers are an ideal beverage for anytime you want to serve an alcoholic drink that's light enough to go down easy. Thus consider serving a wine spritzer when you're having brunch or at the co*cktail hour of a summer afternoon wedding.

What's the difference between a spritzer and a co*cktail? ›

A spritzer is generally a 1:1 ratio of wine and soda water or seltzer water. The Aperol spritz is, by contrast, a recognized co*cktail with a standard formula that combines prosecco, Aperol and soda water.

What is a non alcoholic spritzer called? ›

A non-alcoholic mixed drink (also known as virgin co*cktail, temperance drink, "zero proof" drink or mocktail) is a co*cktail-style beverage made without alcohol.

Why do English people call Sprite lemonade? ›

But to the Brits, lemonade refers to a sweet fizzy drink that may or may not have actual lemon juice in it. In fact, any drink that's listed on a pub or restaurant menu as "lemonade" is likely to end up being akin to Sprite or 7-Up: clear, carbonated, and citrusy.

Are spritzers healthy? ›

That depends. In general, a wine spritzer is relatively healthy. A glass of wine is about 130 calories, and dry wine contains an average of 1.2 grams of sugar. The club soda cuts those numbers in half as long as you're not adding soda that contains sugar or any fruit juice.

Is Sprite just lemonade? ›

Sprite is a soft drink made of carbonated water, sugar, high fructose corn syrup and artificial and a little natural flavors. It has no food value. True Lemonade is made of juice squeezed from lemons into water. It provides Vitamin C.

What is the most drunk drink besides water? ›

Tea is the second‑most‑consumed drink in the world, after water. In addition, alcoholic drinks such as wine, beer, and liquor, which contain the drug ethanol, have been part of human culture for more than 8,000 years.

What is white wine and lemonade called? ›

A white wine spritzer can be made with either lemonade or soda water. Lemonade adds sweetness and a subtle tartness that complements the flavours of the white wine, while soda water will add light effervescence without overpowering the flavour of the wine.

What is wine and lemonade called? ›

Tinto de verano (literally "summer red [wine]") is a cold, wine-based drink popular in Spain. It is similar to sangria and is typically made up of 1 part of table red wine and 1 part soda, usually lemonade.

What is a white wine spritzer made of? ›

A wine spritzer is made up of wine and club soda or sparkling water. The best spritzers are extremely cold. I usually drop my club soda into the freezer for 20-30 minutes before I open it to make sure I'm getting the coldest white wine spritzer.

What is the best wine to use for a spritzer? ›

Any white wine will do—whether you prefer a super dry sauvignon blanc, an oaky chardonnay, or a sweet Moscato. "Personally, I like a crisp, fruit-forward wine like a pinot grigio to build a solid, flavorful foundation for my spritzers," Hoel says.
