Texas Roadhouse Butter Recipe FAQs

Does Texas Roadhouse use real butter or margarine?

According to sources that know, Texas Roadhouse uses half margarine and half butter in their cinnamon butter recipe.

I’ve used all real butter in this recipe because I like the taste best this way. But, if you want to keep it authentic, you can use half and half as well.

Does homemade butter have to be refrigerated?

Yes, to prevent butter from turning rancid, you should store it in a refrigerator. This is especially true in warmer climates. It’s okay to leave it out for a couple of hours, though.

How can I store Texas roadhouse butter?

This Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter disappears in just a few days at my house. But, if you want to store it for longer, you certainly can.

It will keep at room temperature for a day, or in the refrigerator for 30 days. Or, you can freeze it for up to 6 months in a tightly covered container.

What type of cinnamon should I use?

Any ground cinnamon should work well in this recipe. Saigon cinnamon has a peppery flavor, while Ceylon cinnamon is the traditional variety used in most recipes.

Should I use salted or unsalted butter?

Use salted butter in this Texas Roadhouse butter recipe. If you use unsalted butter, be sure to add a dash of salt. Be sure to follow the steps on the printable recipe card below to make the copycat version.

How can I make it spreadable?

If you keep it on the counter at room temperature, it should spread nicely when you need it.

However, after storing it in a refrigerator, you may need to allow it to come to room temperature again before it will spread.

Whatever you do, do not soften butter in a microwave. The ingredients will separate and it won’t taste right.
